Kate and Tony, two of the founder members of the Norwich tango scene, dance a close milonguero style tango which emphasises simplicity and musicality - a style, which ultimately derives from the crowded dance floors of Buenos Aires.

They teach a tango for social dancing which suits all ages and levels of dance experience – a way of moving together to the music, without fixed patterns, where the aim is simplicity, musicality, creativity, and dialogue. They run weekend courses with small groups of 10-12 couples and an open weekly practice session in a fully equipped dance studio where students can work at their own speed to make the dance their own.

Kate and Tony are committed to helping create and sustain a vibrant and co-operative tango community in and around Norwich. In recent months they have expanded their teaching activities and from their Norwich base now host a thriving tango scene in Diss.

Tango is a beautifully simple, beautifully complex dance - a journey which for beginner and experienced tanguero alike begins with un abrazo de tango - a tango embrace.

“ A man and a woman meet on a dance floor and begin to walk in search of each other – this is tango.”
