IPSWICH WORKSHOPS run by Suffolk Tango. With Kate and Tony as visiting teachers. See www.suffolktango.org.uk for dates.

Our weekend workshops run in the middle of the day from 11.00-3.00. And because people learn best when they are relaxed we aim to make them a successful social occasion as well as a productive learning experience. Over the course of the day we work together, dance together and eat together in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere.

All our workshops begin with time spent exploring the key elements of connection, balance and communication that make an improvised tango possible.

We work with small groups so that dancers can be given individual attention. The format allows you the space and time to explore a particular aspect of the dance whether this is the Tango Fundamentals designed to introduce the basics, or Dancing the Music, the perfect antidote to an obsession with steps or The Fine Art of Close Dancing which opens the door on close embrace, one of the most rewarding pleasures of dancing tango.

We study technique for leading and following – making sure the women’s part is active and equally valued.

For these workshops we take our cue from one of our favourite teachers, the late Ricardo Vidort who always advised: dance from your heart not your memory – and laugh when it all goes wrong.

Our courses are developing all the time as we work to find new and better ways of opening up the magical world of tango.

“Thank you very much for the weekend, a great mix of instruction and inspiration. I'm already looking forward to the next one.”

‘The workshop was fabulous, its great to have the chance to go over the technique without getting hung up on complicated moves.’

‘This was an outstanding workshop.  A truly transforming experience.
In depth stuff that won’t disappear overnight’

“I learnt a lot about me and my partner.  Good pedagogy from Kate and Tony, good support.  They pay attention to each person.  Good atmosphere between people.’

‘Fabulous.  Big relief to be back focussed on the essence of tango – not overcomplicated moves. Please stick with this.  1st time we haven’t fallen out’

“Thank you very much for a wonderful weekend.
It was a perfect combination of dancing, music & company, and has spurred me on to do more.”
